Last night the Academy Awards were held in Los Angeles, California as Oscars were given to actors, producers, directors, and others involved in the creation of the Academy’s chosen films of the year. Taking home best documentary was the film “Undefeated,” executive produced by Diddy, about a high school football team from Memphis, Tennesee that undergoes the struggles of life in a rough Memphis area.
The film marks the first time an African American director has won an Academy Award.
Overcome with excitement director T.J. Martin accepted the award accidentally dropping the word, “f**king” in his acceptance speech, a feat that was not a first for Academy Award show speeches.
Directed by Daniel Lindsay and T.J. Martin, the film follows a volunteer coach, Bill Courtney, as he resurrects as a high school team and its players after continually putting together losing seasons.
Miraculously in the film, the Manassas Tigers of North Memphis, who had never won a playoff game in their 110-year history, win a playoff game and learn a great deal about life at the same time.

Also at the Oscars, viewers heard singer/producer Pharrell Williams and popular drummer Sheila E play to the award show audience in and out of commercials
Pharrell also worked with famed composer Hans Zimmer on several of the songs during the Academy awards according to an interview with MTV over the last week.
“You know, Hans called me and he said that [Oscars Producer] Brian Grazer had asked him to come on as a consultant and effectively score the music or whatever,” Pharrell explained to MTV News. “And Hans was like, ‘I can’t do that. … I’d do that if like I had, like, Pharrell.’ [Grazer's] like, ‘OK, get Pharrell on the phone.’ That’s the story he told me. I got the call from Hans and he told them he wanted to do it with me, and so I pleasantly accepted and we’ve just been working ever since.”

Lil Wayne plans to put out his first line of kicks, though he didn't reveal which company will release them.
Lil Wayne has revealed that he plans to release his first signature shoe line.
Speaking with VIBE.com, Weezy remained relatively mum on the details, but said that the shoes will not be released on his Trukfit fashion shingle. Instead, he plans to partner with a major brand, though he wouldn’t reveal which one.
“I do have a shoe coming out soon but it won’t be Trukfit,” he said. “I have [a] shoe with a well-known company. I just don’t want to say yet because I haven’t dotted the line yet. But it’s done.”
He responded to speculation that the line could be coming out on Supra, but would not confirm. “Nah, it’s not a Nike or Reebok, I can tell you that much,” said Wayne, addressing a possible Supra collaboration. “Uh-oh. Watch out.”
Wiz Khalifa eyes a spring release for his upcoming mixtape.
Wiz Khalifa has announced the release date for his upcoming mixtape Taylor Allderdice.
Breaking the news via Twitter, the Taylor Gang leader revealed that his latest offering will arrive on March 13th. The Rostrum Records recording artist first announced the mixtape, named after his high school, in November 2011.
The mixtape news precedes Wiz's upcoming sophomore album O.N.I.F.C., which stands for "Only Nigga In First Class." Of the LP, he said, "Me, I come from we made everything on our own. It’s a process of just recreating what we already know how to do and just taking it to the next level, and I’m having a great time. I’m getting great new fans and doing new things.”

Jim Jones was involved in a CRAZY brawl last night in Connecticut which resulted in him getting arrested, but not before it took five cops and a little bit of mace to subdue him ... TMZ has learned.
TMZ has obtained insane video (see above) of the fight going down inside the casino after a party hosted by Diddy at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods.
Our sources say a guy, who seemed intoxicated, came up to Jones and started talking smack to him, which Jones tried to ignore.
According to our sources, the guy then started getting physical and throwing punches and Jones fought back in self defense. Then the guy's friends jumped in ... then Jim's people jumped in ... and IT WAS ON!!!
We're told Jones had no idea who the guy was or what triggered his beef with Jones.
Sources close to Jones say he was arrested and it took the aforementioned cops and mace to bring him in. We're told he has since bonded out and is headed back home soon.
Jones had no comment. The hotel had no comment as well, and referred us to theConnecticut State Police ... who said Jones was charged with assault on a police officer and breach of peace.
Petey Pablo kept a low profile as he entered the pen last month.
Petey Pablo may have started his year off on a bad note, but he did so with little fanfare.
Pablo, who was arrested trying to smuggle a gun through an airport, began his three-year sentence on January 4 of this year by turning himself in to a medium security federal correction institution in West Virginia, reports TMZ.
The court recommended that the rapper receive "intensive substance abuse treatment, vocational training and educational opportunities" during his prison time.
Chris Brown has been accused of angrily snatching some girl's iPhone outside anightclub in Miami this weekend ... and driving off with it -- law enforcement tells TMZ.
A rep for the Miami Beach PD tells TMZ, 24-year-old Christal Spann filed a police report Sunday (below) for "robbery by snatching" -- claiming she followed Chris and rapper Tyga out of Cameo nightclub early in the morning (see photo above) ... and snapped a picture of Chris getting into his Bentley.
Christal told cops ... Chris flipped out when he saw her camera phone-- then grabbed it through the car window, saying, "Bitch, you ain't going to put that on no website."
According to the police report, Chris then rolled up his window and drove off -- $500 iPhone in hand.
A rep for the Miami Beach PD tells us, no arrests have been made and no warrant has been issued yet. We're told the incident is currently under investigation.
BTW, Chris is still on probation for the Rihanna beating and if he's arrested he could be thrown in jail on a probation violation.
Lil Wayne shares that Limp Bizkit is now signed to Cash Money and says they may be working with Ashanti as well.
Over the years, Cash Money Records has opened its doors as a home to established and new artists alike. Recently, Lil Wayne revealed that Cash Money signed the Rock/Rap group Limp Bizkit. He then shared that Ashanti may become part of the Cash Money collective as well.
"Every other day I hear about somebody new signed to Cash Money," Wayne explained in an interview withKissing After Dark. "For example, the other day I just found out that Limp Bizkit signed to Cash Money. So they're signing everybody. Every body's getting a chance."
Weezy also went on to fuel rumors f Ashanti signing to the label. While acknowledging that it was not a sure thing, Wayne shared that Ashanti may be the next artist on the Cash Money roster.
"I don't want to step across any boundaries but I think we're working with Ashanti right now."
Elton John has picked the person he would like to portray him in an upcoming biopic.
Justin Timberlake is said to be ready to take on the role as soon as a director is chosen.
"We're searching for a director," Elton's husband, David Furnish told E! Online. "It's important we all share the same vision. Elton and Justin have had conversations about it. Justin also says he has to feel comfortable with the director and the director has to be comfortable with Justin. The chemistry is really important. There's no race to make this. We're just going to take the time to make it right."

The trio of emcees are reportedly joining forces for a project.
Back in 2007, Q-Tip and Common announced that they were forming the super group The Standard, though a full-length project is yet to come to light.
According to NYDN, Nas is reportedly set to join the group, though official plans are yet to be made for the group’s album. When asked if he plans to record with Q-Tip and Common, Nas responded, “Definitely,” fueling speculation that the duo could become a trio.
Q-Tip is also at work on his third official solo album, the follow up to 2008’s The Renaissance, while Nas is recording his next LP Life is Good.
It seems as if Game’s DVD “Stop Snitching/Stop Lying” is catching up to him, as a North Carolina Court of Appeals ruled in favor of five police officers, awarding each $1 million. The officers claimed their appearance in Game’s DVD was defamation of character.

Its been known that Nicki Minaj was planning to pull off a TV triple double by appearing with Madonna at the Super Bowl, performing on the Grammys and bringing Roman Zolanski to the NBA All-Star Game. On Thursday, the bench for the 61st annual game – which airs on February 26 - got way deeper, when Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Pitbull, will.i.am and Flo Rida were added to the lineup.
Pit will take on halftime duties to perform his #1 hit "Give Me Everything" with Ne-Yo, while Nicki will hit the stage with her new single, "Starships" and play "Superbass" during the introduction of the All-Star players. Mary will sing the National Anthem before the game and will and Flo will post up for the All-Star Saturday night for a run through "Good Feeling" before the Sprite Slam Dunk contest. "The Voice" winner Javier Colon will do the National Anthem honors on Saturday night.
For the first time ever, the Sprint pregame broadcast before the big game will feature a concert as well, led by Gym Class Heroes and featuring J. Cole, acapella group Pentatonix and singer Kayla Brianna.
The LP has been recalled from retailers including Best Buy and Amazon on account of an uncleared sample of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s voice that was not approved by his estate. Retailers were advised to return the shipments, with Cash Money intending to reissue a new version of the album in two weeks.

DMX is not convinced that he's the father of his accuser's children.
DMX has been accused of owing more than $1 million in unpaid child support.
According to TMZ, Dark Man X’s ex Patricia Trejo filed the motion in L.A. Superior Court this past Thursday (Feb. 16th), though the rapper is not entirely convinced that he’s the father of her baby.
X was trying to get clearance from the court for permission to perform in Europe. Since Trejo filed the motion for payment, he may no longer be able to obtain the proper credentials to travel overseas.
The gravel-voiced emcee explained that he’s willing to fork over the money, but only if DNA tests prove that he’s the father.

The hit VH1 show “Behind The Music” is coming back with a number of episodes featuring some of the industry’s biggest Hip-Hop and R&B artists such as Nas, Game, Akon, Brandy, Pitbull, and T-Pain.
The show, which originally ran from 1997 to 2006 before taking a three-year break, re-premiered in 2009 with episodes featuring Eminem, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, and Pink. Throughout the show’s 15-year history, artists from all different musical genres have been featured in the tell-all biography series, with some of the biggest draws among viewers coming from Vanilla Ice, Diddy, Ice-T, and LL Cool J.
According to Billboard, “VH1 aims to touch on the influence R&B/Hip-Hop has had on the ‘millennial generation’” with this new season. The first new episode of “Behind The Music” spotlighting Pitbull will premiere on Thursday, March 15 at 9PM EST, with a new episode airing each following week at the same time.

On Tuesday (February 14) three little words on Weezy’s Twitter account set off rumors that he popped the question to his girlfriend Dhea--“She said yes!” Wayne wrote--but there is no engagement to celebrate just yet.
Even though Wayne isn't a very frequent tweeter, the feedback got to him quickly, because on Wednesday (February 15) morning, he followed up with a new message to clarify things. "Ohhhhhhh now I see why! I meant 'she said yes' to being my valentine!!!" he wrote. "Hahahahahahaha! Y'all krazy!"
Uncle Sam also recently served Nas tax lien for unpaid federal propery taxes to the tune of $339,005.49.
With Lil’ Kim and Bow Wow recently making headlines for failing to pay back taxes, Nas is the latest to lapse on forking over cash to the U.S. government.
According to TMZ, the Queens, New York native never paid the $339,005.49 that he owes in federal income tax for 2010. Now, Uncle Sam has obtained a lien on his property.
But additionally, Nas hasn’t paid back taxes from previous years, with an owed sum over more than $6 million. He is yet to comment on the matter.

Flight 360 didn't perform as well as expected on the charts but that didn't stop Tity Boi from reinventing himself as 2 Chainz on Atlanta's underground rap scene.
As part of her cover story with Vibe, Nicki Minaj spoke on a variety of topics including being accepted in the fashion world and having something to prove on her debut album Pink Friday.

As one of the few Asian basketball players in the NBA, Jeremy Lin regularly makes Sportscenter’s highlight reels.
Now, accompanying his athletic performances, is a rap song dedicated to the Harvard graduate that has been averaging over 25 points and 8 assists per game.
The rap song, performed by a Harvard student named Mega Ran, is a dedication to Lin, who is the league’s first American-born player of Chinese or Taiwanese descent.
After starting the season on the bench, Lin has made his way to the starting line up with three straight 20 point games. Last week, he scored 38 points against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.

MTV News has confirmed that the power couple filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to reserve their daughter's name for use in the future.
